27-year-old U.S. soldier Denisha Montgomery died while stationed in Germany this summer. The Army initially said her death was a suicide, but Montgomery’s family believes she was murdered after trying to report being assaulted by military police. The Army has opened an investigation into Montgomery’s death after the family released a recording of Denisha describing the assault.

The 3rd Squadron, 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade (1st SFAB) dedicated their headquarters building to a fallen comrade, Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy Bolyard at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Bolyard, an armor/cavalry scout senior sergeant, served as the squadron command sergeant major assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade, stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. He was on his 10th deployment when he died of wounds sustained from small-arms fire Sept. 3, 2018, in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

Bolyard’s awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with four Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, United Nations Medal NATO Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award and Combat Action Badge.

Previous combat deployments include Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar.
